The Olympic Torch



The olympic flame started at the ancient olympics in Greece. The flame was ignited from the sun and burned until the closing of the games.


In Olympia women in ancient style robes who are holding the olympic torch ignite it in a curved mirror. Next it gets put on fire by the sun this a tradition for the Greeks. The torch is then passed from person to person as it travels from Olympia to london.

The most important event at the opening ceremony is the lighting of the torch. It burns for two weeks until the game have finished.
